So I arrived at the North Rim about 8pm on Wednesday night. It was an icy -13 degrees outside. This is my first time in negative weather. It was terribly cold!!
I had no idea I would have internet access out here, so I wasn't expecting to be able to write today, but low and behold, this isn't the most remote place on Earth. Still no cell phone reception though.
We are spending the weekend with my husband's family and family friends. It's actually a lot nicer out here than I thought. And with limited electronic access, we are playing a lot of interactive games. Scrabble, Phase 10, Battleship... just to name a few. It's very competitive and mind-enhancing. If that's the correct term!! It's nice being mentally challenged a little but though, instead of doing the same monotonous thing every day.
The lodge is beautiful. There is about 7" of snow everywhere. There are about 35 people here and 7 dogs. The cabins are actually heated and it only hits negative after about 7pm. I must admit I'm not a big fan of the cold, but it is beautiful. It's relaxing, even tho I miss Bruce (who is in a kennel back in Flag).
I am not ready to go back to work. We are here until tomorrow afternoon, then we have a day to relax with Bruce, who probably thinks we abandoned him.
I hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving. I know I did. now let's go see if I can tear Tyler away from the college football and get him on a snowmobile.
